Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health seeks an Outpatient Coder II to review records and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers for proper APCs. Works with Coding leadership to ensure accuracy and compliance for timely billing.

The role requires 2+ years of outpatient coding, strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines, and proficiency with EMR and Microsoft Office. Epic experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS outpatient coding experience.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.
• Experience with auditing charges and provider education.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and codes professional services using CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers; provides ICD-10-CM coding where needed.
• Meets productivity and accuracy standards per manager guidance.
• Performs prospective audits of charges and provides feedback to providers.
• Reviews codes annually or with new code updates; communicates findings to leadership.
• Responds to provider and department questions in a timely manner.
• Analyzes rejected claims and patient inquiries; suggests appropriate coding changes.
• Generates regular reports on review findings as requested by management.
