Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus specialized training associated with the attainment of a recognized Coding Certificate.
• CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist) certification required.
• Minimum 2 years of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS outpatient coding assignment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of current ICD-10-CM and CPT Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and codes professional services including surgeries and diagnostics with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS and modifiers; provide ICD-10-CM coding where needed.
• Meet productivity and accuracy standards as set by management.
• Conduct prospective audits of charges and provide feedback to providers.
• Periodically review codes, annually or with updates/new codes.
• Answer questions from providers and other departments in a timely manner.
• Review rejected claims and patient inquiries, recommending appropriate coding when needed.
• Report findings of reviews/rejections to the manager.
