Job summary

Infirmary Health is seeking an outpatient coder to assign and sequence codes for complex accounts in accordance with regulatory guidelines and IH policies. You will handle emergency department charges when required and ensure accurate documentation.

The role requires at least 1 year of acute care coding experience, knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, CMS coding requirements, and strong research and computer skills to resolve coding questions.

Qualifications

• 1 year of coding experience in an acute care facility.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology.
• Knowledge of coding conventions: ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS.
• Knowledge of CMS coding requirements.
• Proficient computer skills; ability to research coding questions and utilize educational resources.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and sequences code for complex outpatient accounts according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and IH policies and procedures.
• May also be required to assign emergency department charges, as needed.
