Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks an Outpatient Coder-Edits to review and resolve outpatient (observation/surgical) coding alerts. You will assign ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes with independence, supporting compliant billing and timely reimbursement.

The role requires 3 years of outpatient coding experience in a hospital or health system, with EHR/coding software proficiency and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Associate Degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, or related field preferred.
• One year coding certification in Health Information Management preferred.
• 3 years of outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital or healthcare system required.
• Experience coding ED visits, outpatient procedures, interventional radiology, and ambulatory surgery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Modify and complete moderate to high complexity outpatient edits using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Work in Bill Scrubber System (SSI) as required.
• Enter edit root cause data in Fluency Time Capture for management to solve upstream and downstream problems.
• Attend coding education as scheduled.
• Perform other special projects or duties as assigned.
• Maintain 95% coding accuracy while meeting productivity standards.
