Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution
License to practice pharmacy in the state of practice and dispense controlled substances
Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy
Effective communication, people management, and project management skills
Immunization certification if applicable to practice site needs

Responsibilities

Reviews patients' medication orders for allergy interactions, duplication of therapy, appropriateness of drug therapy, and drug–drug interactions
Oversees preparation and delivery of medications to care areas
Provides counseling to patients and promotes medication education and adherence
Supervises interns, technicians, and staff; provides clinical consultation
Solves problems related to equipment, maintenance, drug availability, and staffing
Identifies opportunities to improve processes and patient safety and participates in department meetings
