Job summary

USIC is hiring a Locator to locate underground utilities in field conditions across our service area. You’ll work independently, using a company vehicle and equipment to mark locations and document findings at each site.

We offer hands-on training, a safety‑focused environment, and opportunities for advancement. Prior locating experience isn’t required, but problem solvers with a can‑do attitude are welcome.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Able to pass a drug screen.
• Able to read locate tickets and maps.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities, including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems.
• Thoroughly search for underground utilities in a designated area, accurately marking the location, completing the necessary documentation, and photographing each locate.
