Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation Amarillo District seeks Transportation Maintenance Tech I-III in the Gruver Maintenance Office. This role blends hands-on outdoor work with teamwork and the satisfaction of keeping our community’s roads safe and well‑maintained.

Responsibilities include traffic control, roadway repairs, and preventive maintenance on equipment. A valid driver’s license is required; duties may include day, night shifts, weekends, and holidays to support operations across

Qualifications

• Experience signals: TMT I = No experience required; TMT II = 1 year; TMT III = 2 years. Substitutions for minimum qualifications allowed.
• Licenses: Must have a valid driver’s license; safety and vehicle operation requirements for state vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing and minor repairs on equipment; completes reports such as timekeeping and PMI.
• Trains other employees and may supervise crew leads on complex tasks.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
