Job summary

The City of Renton is seeking a Maintenance Services Worker 1 to perform labor-intensive street maintenance outdoors in all weather. Duties include litter removal, operating light trucks and tools, and assisting with concrete work across the Street and Solid Waste sections.

Applicants must hold a valid driver's license, pass background and driving record checks, and obtain required certifications within specified timeframes. This on-site role requires teamwork, safety, and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Successful passing of a background check and driving record check.
• Certification compliance within six months: Flagging, First aid/CPR.
• Certification compliance within one year: Confined Space/Competent Person Training; NIMS 100 and 700.

Responsibilities

• Remove litter and debris from roadways within the public right-of-way.
• Operate a variety of light equipment, trucks and hand and power tools; supervise heavier vehicles under guidance.
• Load and unload materials from trucks.
• Utilize PPE as required.
• Perform traffic control duties for workers, other City departments and contractors.
• Contribute to teamwork and respect; foster equity and inclusion.
• Remain current with field-related technological advancements.
• Participate in cross-training for versatile coverage.
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
• May be assigned to support City priorities during emergencies.
