Job summary

Church Street Marketplace, a department of the City of Burlington, seeks temporary maintenance workers to perform outdoor cleaning, repairs and seasonal snow tasks in the Marketplace district. The position emphasizes safety, customer service and reliable teamwork.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and night shifts as needed. Non-union role with pay grade of $20.00 hourly. Accessibility support is available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
• Outdoor maintenance and general construction/trades experience preferred.
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily outdoor cleaning, sweeping, repair and maintenance of the Church Street Marketplace.
• Salt, shovel and plow during winter months as needed.
• Be available to work Sundays and on-call for snowstorms.
• Support marketplace safety by reporting unusual events to supervisor.
• Empty and clean trash containers; prepare trash for removal by outside contractors.
• Assist with setup, breakdown, and operation of special events.
• Clean and unclog catch basins; assist with basic pruning and debris removal.
• Keep garden beds tidy and presentable; interact positively with the public.
• Collaborate effectively with maintenance staff and city departments.
