Job summary

Prince William County Government is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead to manage a team responsible for more than 400 acres of grounds at the County Landfill, including erosion control, mowing, litter removal, and sweeping. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years of full-time grounds maintenance experience is required.
• Preferred: at least 3 years outdoor grounds maintenance with supervisory or crew lead experience.
• Preferred: at least 2 years supervisory or crew lead experience.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to present clear directions and reports are preferred.
• Experience with Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and work with a team performing grounds maintenance, litter collection, and other strenuous labor in all weather conditions at county facilities.
• Plan, prioritize, assign work, provide direction, inspect work, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Promote safety through safety meetings and safe work practices, including use of PPE.
• Document work efforts with daily logs, reports, and vehicle inspections.
• Mentor and train new hires and ensure understanding of policies and SOPs.
• Safely operate and maintain vehicles, trailers, hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
• Engage customers and coworkers respectfully and maintain composure in difficult situations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
