Job summary

Prince William County Government is seeking a full-time Grounds Maintenance Crew Lead to supervise a field team performing grounds care at the County Landfill and related facilities. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and customer-facing professionalism while delivering consistent field operations.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with 2+ years of grounds maintenance experience and some supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
Minimum 2 years of full-time grounds maintenance experience required.
Supervisory or crew lead experience preferred.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee and work with a team performing grounds maintenance, litter collection, and related labor.
Plan, prioritize, and assign work; give clear directions; inspect work and ensure compliance with policies.
Promote safety through meetings and safe practices including PPE use.
Document daily logs, reports, and vehicle inspections accurately and timely.
Mentor and train new hires on policies and standard operating procedures.
Safely operate and maintain vehicles, trailers, tools, and equipment.
Engage customers and coworkers respectfully and maintain professionalism.
