Job summary

North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor I for NC State Parks. The role involves inspecting facilities, supervising maintenance staff and contractors, and supporting safety and housekeeping tasks across park facilities.

Must have high school diploma or GED and at least three years of progressive maintenance or construction experience in multiple trades. A sign-on bonus of $1,000 is offered; travel and on-call shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience performing trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or auto mechanics.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for facility maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read blueprints/structural specifications and estimate material needs.

Responsibilities

• Develops and oversees outside bid packages and monitors contractor work.
• Acts as liaison with local officials/regulatory agencies and manages facilities.
• Supervises staff, volunteers, and temporary workers on projects.
• Maintains records and basic operational forms.
• Provides hands-on supervision for routine construction, maintenance, and repairs.
• Maintains stock control for tools, parts, and supplies.
• Advises management on equipment and facility maintenance or replacement decisions.
