Job summary

State of North Carolina - Natural and Cultural Resources seeks a Maintenance/Construction Supervisor I (S) to oversee facility maintenance and construction projects at NC state parks. The role involves inspecting facilities, reading blueprints, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with contractors and regulatory agencies.

The position also manages staff and stock, and supports master planning efforts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and three years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction.
• Experience in at least three trades: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or auto mechanics.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and repair practices.
• Ability to read blueprints/structural specifications and estimate materials.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements outside bid packages and monitors contractor work.
• Liaises with local officials and regulatory agencies for facility management.
• Supervises and evaluates work of employees and volunteers on projects.
• Provides hands-on technical supervision for maintenance, renovations, and repairs.
• Maintains stock control for tools, parts, and supplies.
• Advises management on equipment and facilities maintenance or replacement.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Three years progressive maintenance or construction experience

Journeyman level in three trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, auto mechanics)
