Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Engineering Technician - Outdoor to join our U.S. headquarters team in the Greater Kansas City area. You will build, test, troubleshoot, repair and modify basic developmental and production equipment and systems.

You will layout circuits, read schematics, and assist design engineers, diagnosing wiring issues and preparing wiring diagrams as needed. The role includes documenting work, mentoring Lab Assistants, and contributing to design improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in electronics.
• GPA 3.0+ preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and debug circuits.
• Experience with FCC/CE and GPS testing.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Mentor to Engineering Lab Assistants.

Responsibilities

• Layout electronic circuits and assist design engineers.
• Read schematics, debug from system to component level.
• Diagnose wiring problems and create wiring diagrams.
• Prototype, breadboard, and troubleshoot basic circuits.
• Operate lab tools: PCB milling, scopes, meters, analyzers.
• Document schematics and update computer records.
• Recommend basic design improvements and mentor juniors.
