S&ME’s Charlotte, North Carolina Construction Services team is seeking a Construction Materials Engineering Technician to support field and lab testing on concrete, soils, and asphalt. The role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and potential leadership opportunities as you gain experience.

With a history of 50+ years, S&ME emphasizes growth, ESOP ownership, and project variety—from transportation to energy sectors. This full-time position requires outdoor work and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred for advanced levels.
• Active industry certifications such as ACI Field Testing Grade I and ICC Special Inspector are valued.
• Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic math proficiency, including measurements and units of weight.

Responsibilities

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials (concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates).
• Sample collection and preparation for analysis.
• Interpret test results and prepare detailed reports.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors and project managers to meet specs and safety guidelines.
