Job summary

Fyda Freightliner Columbus, a Daimler Trucks North America authorized dealer, is seeking a diesel technician for yard spotter trucks. You will perform preventive maintenance and repairs, diagnose diesel engine issues, and work on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to keep equipment in top condition.

Ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED and at least two years of verifiable HD diesel experience; welding is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years verifiable experience with HD diesel trucks or equipment.
• Welding experience preferred but not required.
• DOT inspection experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs of diesel-powered yard spotter trucks.
• Troubleshoot issues with diesel engines and systems.
• Determine parts and tools necessary for repairs.
• Complete service paperwork and maintain efficiency.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow safety protocols.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections in shop and on-site/mobile settings.

We carry all current makes and models in the Freightliner, Western Star, Ottawa and Isuzu COE product portfolios. Serving the Columbus transportation industry hub since 1985, we operate as a full-service commercial truck dealership and body shop.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist with preventive maintenance and repairs of diesel-powered yard spotter trucks. You will be tasked with making mechanical, hydraulic, engine, chassis, and electrical repairs on diesel powered yard spotter trucks.Perform preventive maintenance and inspectionsTroubleshoot issues with diesel enginesDetermine parts & tools necessary for mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairsComplete service paperwork while maintaining efficiencyMaintain a safe clean work areaPerform preventative maintenance and inspections in shop and on site mobileHigh School Diploma or GED certificate2 Years verifiable experience with H.D. Diesel trucks or equipmentWill train someone with automotive experienceManual dexterity, able to lift heavy objectsWelding Experience preferred, not requiredAnnual DOT inspection experience preferred, not requiredAbility to work in the elements when neededMust be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.
