Job summary

The City of Toledo seeks a Systems Specialist to oversee the distributed control network for water treatment and reclamation facilities. You will manage PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, VFDs, databases, and data communications, ensuring reliability and security of automated processes.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex controls, implementing software and hardware upgrades, and maintaining documentation. Experience with industrial automation in water environments is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s Degree in a relevant field.
• Three years of PLC programming, design, installation, or troubleshooting in a distributed control network environment.
• Certification/license requirements: Class I Water Operator license or Operator in Training within one year of appointment (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains automation systems for plant DNCs, PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, VFDs, databases and telemetry.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical/electronic controls and sensor systems interfacing with PLCs and the grid backup.
• Develops and enforces software policies, budgets, and system upgrades to ensure security and integrity.
• Documents configurations, supports cyber-security, and trains users on equipment operation.
