Job summary

Carroll Park Healthcare is seeking a caring and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our rehabilitation team. The OT will evaluate and treat residents to improve daily living activities and independence.

Working with therapy and nursing staff, the OT helps residents regain confidence, mobility, and quality of life. Ideal candidates are licensed Occupational Therapists who are passionate about geriatric care, demonstrate strong critical-thinking skills, and value teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Current, valid Maryland Occupational Therapy license.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and assist with resident transfers.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents’ functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement therapeutic activities to promote independence in self-care and mobility.
  • Provide adaptive equipment recommendations and train residents and caregivers.
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries per guidelines.
  • Collaborate with PTs, SLPs, nursing, and social services for care planning.
  • Educate residents, families, and staff on safety and functional techniques.
  • Supervise COTAs and support staff as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized therapy environment.

Summary

Carroll Park Healthcare is seeking a caring and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team. The OT will evaluate and treat residents to improve their ability to perform daily living activities and achieve greater independence. Working collaboratively with other therapy and nursing professionals, the Occupational Therapist plays a vital role in helping residents regain confidence, mobility, and quality of life.

Our ideal candidate is a licensed Occupational Therapist who is passionate about geriatric care, demonstrates strong critical-thinking skills, and values teamwork. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate residents’ functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans tailored to their physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.

  • Implement therapeutic activities and interventions to promote independence in self-care, mobility, and daily living skills.

  • Provide adaptive equipment recommendations and train residents and caregivers in proper use.

  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in accordance with facility, state, and federal guidelines.

  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Nursing staff, and Social Services to ensure comprehensive care planning.

  • Educate residents, families, and staff on techniques to maintain safety and improve functional performance.

  • Supervise and guide Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and support staff as needed.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe therapy environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.

  • Current, valid Maryland Occupational Therapy license.

  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Compassionate and professional demeanor with a commitment to quality care.

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and assist with resident transfers.

Preferred: Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings.
