Job summary

Communication Network Engineering, Inc. - CNE in Fargo, ND is seeking an OSP Engineering Technician III to assist with project design, field staking, and construction supervision of telecom outside plant projects.

This role often works under minimal supervision and may supervise other technicians. Ideal candidates will have an associate degree and five years in utility construction, with strong AutoCAD/ GIS skills and willingness to travel, including overnight trips.

Qualifications

Associate degree preferred.
Five years of experience in the utility construction industry.
Thorough knowledge of aerial design and construction practices for fiber facilities preferred.
Experience with pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc preferred.
Proficient with AutoCAD/Visio/ArcGIS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Prepares construction drawings, including staking sheets and maps (AutoCAD/GIS).
Works with contractors to determine project needs (ped staking, fiber routes, bore locations).
Prepares construction units and progress reports for stakeholders.
Researches and acquires private easements.
Collects field data using GPS and other tools.
Provides supervision to other OSP Technicians as needed.
Oversees on-site inspection and construction to ensure plan compliance.
Records as-built data and updates drawings with as-built information.
