Job summary

Great Plains Communications in Omaha, NE is seeking an experienced OSP Field Engineer to design, coordinate, and oversee outside plant construction. The role requires strong knowledge of OSP practices, drafting, and GIS mapping, with duties spanning design, budgeting, and permitting.

You will collaborate with Operations and PMO to track progress, manage budgets, and ensure timely completion. On-call availability and valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of Field Engineer experience or 1-3 years in construction.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be on call for outages.
• Knowledge of outside plant construction and GIS/drafting workflows.
• Ability to coordinate tasks and communicate project progress.
• Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs or collaborates on OSP plant designs.
• Ensures designs meet Engineering standards and best practices.
• Estimates costs and manages project budgets.
• Conducts site walks with Operations and customers.
• Updates management/PMO on progress and constraints.
• Documents progress, budget needs, and permits.
• Approves completion with contractors and reports to management.
• Coordinates with outside Engineering firms and field personnel.
• Manages permits data, forms, submittals, and approvals.
• Coordinates contractor activities through all construction phases.
