Job summary

Communication Network Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Outside Plant Engineering Technician III to assist with project design, field staking, and construction supervision of telecommunications outside plant projects.

The role may supervise other technicians and works with contractors to ensure plans are followed. The ideal candidate has an associate degree and several years in utility construction, strong AutoCAD/GIS skills, and the ability to travel and work outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred in related field.
• Five years of experience in the utility construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of aerial design/construction practices for fiber facilities.
• Experience with pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction drawings and staking sheets (Visio) and maps (AutoCAD/GIS).
• Coordinate with contractors on ped staking, fiber routes and bore locations.
• Prepare construction units and progress reports for stakeholders.
• Research and acquire private easements.
• Collect field data with GPS and other tools.
• Supervise other OSP Engineering Technicians as needed.
• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with plans.
• Record as-built data and maps using ArcGIS or AutoCAD.
