Job summary

Communication Network Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Outside Plant Engineering Technician III to support project design, field staking, and construction supervision of telecommunications OSP projects.

This role typically works under minimal supervision and may supervise other OSP Engineering Technicians, helping ensure plans are accurate and implemented on site. Candidates should have an associate degree related to the field, several years of industry experience, and strong computer skills

Qualifications

Associate degree in Telecommunications, Drafting, Construction Management or related field, preferred.
Five years of experience in the utility construction industry.
Aerial design and construction knowledge of fiber facilities.
Experience with pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and AutoCAD.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Overnight and/or extended travel required.
Valid driver’s license and insurability.

Responsibilities

Prepares construction drawings, including staking sheets (Visio) and maps (AutoCAD/GIS).
Works with contractors to determine project needs, including ped staking, fiber routes, bore locations.
Prepares construction units and progress reports for internal and external Stakeholders.
Researches and acquires private easements.
Collects field data using GPS and other tools.
Provides supervision to other OSP Technicians as needed.
On-site inspection and supervision to ensure plan compliance.
Records as-built data and updates drawings with as-built information.
Performs aerial fielding and prepares for analysis as needed.
Completes as-built mapping using ArcGIS or AutoCAD.
Performs other duties as assigned.
