Job summary

IQ Fiber is seeking a Manager, Outside Plant Engineering to oversee OSP construction, maintenance, and team leadership. Based in Gainesville with travel to Jacksonville, you’ll drive high‑quality fiber deployments and regulatory compliance.

The role requires deep technical knowledge of fiber, splicing, and documentation, plus hands-on leadership for a 24/7 operation and contractor oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years in fiber construction environment.
• Advanced knowledge of optical networks and construction techniques.
• Experience managing outside plant contractors and compliance.
• Strong project management and cross-functional leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an OSP team including Supervisors, Fiber Technicians, Engineers, Locators, and Construction Technicians.
• Train team in splicing techniques, troubleshooting, network architecture, and OSP documentation.
• Oversee FTTP construction projects, field surveys, cost development, and multi-tenant fiber installation.
• Coordinate OSP construction with in-house and contract resources; manage contractors and invoicing.
• Support network troubleshooting and 24/7/365 operations, including after-hours work.
• Enforce safety, OSHA, FCC, and regulatory standards across OSP activities.
• Provide administrative support: reporting, budgeting, and cross-functional coordination.
