OSP Engineering Manager — Fiber Network Leadership

Job summary

IQ Fiber seeks a Manager, Outside Plant Engineering to lead planning, design, and execution of OSP construction and maintenance. You will guide cross-functional teams, ensure high-quality fiber deployment, and maintain regulatory compliance.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep expertise in fiber construction, splicing, network architecture, and OSP documentation, with accountability for team development and 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in engineering or related technical field preferred; minimum 10 years in fiber construction.
• Advanced knowledge of network engineering, optical networks, and aerial/underground construction techniques.
• Experience managing outside plant contractors, including quality oversight and compliance.
• Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and pass background checks/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage an OSP team including Supervisors, Fiber Technicians, Engineers, Locators, and Construction Technicians.
• Oversee FTTP construction projects, field surveys, cost development, and fiber architecture installation in multi-tenant buildings.
• Coordinate for in-house and contract resources; manage contractors, invoicing, quality, and documentation.
• Support troubleshooting of network systems and restoration of OSP repairs; respond to customer inquiries.
• Ensure OSHA safety standards, FCC/NCTA regulations, and internal policies are followed across field activities.
