Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a full-time OSP Designer to support a large-scale telecommunications project across fiber and copper networks. The role requires expertise in outside plant, permitting, and collaboration with GIS and CAD teams to produce design packages.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in OSP Design and a track record of delivering compliant, cost-effective routes while coordinating with project teams to manage scope, risks, and schedule.

Qualifications

• Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic and copper networks.
• Knowledge of engineering principles within the OSP area and industry standards.
• 3+ years of OSP Design engineering experience.
• 1+ years QC review experience on OSP Design packages.
• Working knowledge of client software systems and builds.
• Knowledge of fiber optic and copper counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics.
• Strong communication and written skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site visits within the market and design cost-efficient fiber/copper routes per specs.
• Read road prints, utility maps and as-builts to identify conflicts.
• Coordinate with vendors and GIS/CAD teams for documentation.
• Ensure designs align with customer specs and guidelines.
• Review deliverables and communicate risks and mitigations to PM.
• Support billing, change orders, and scope management with project team.
• Maintain customer access network integrity and deploy access technologies.
• Perform quality reviews of OSP Engineering Design packages.
