Job summary

Signal and Strand is seeking an OSHPD/HCAI Superintendent for Northern California (San Jose) field supervision of healthcare facility projects. The role demands hands-on leadership across trades, strict OSHPD/HCAI adherence, and coordination with inspectors and subcontractors.

Travel up to 50%, plus nights and weekends as schedules require. A high school diploma is required; college degree preferred. Base salary ranges from $175,000 to $200,000 USD depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of verifiable Commercial Superintendent experience, including OSHPD 3 experience
• 3+ verifiable client references
• Ability to create and maintain a three-week look-ahead using Microsoft Project
• Proficient with AutoDesk, Bluebeam, Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook
• Dynamic leader with strong organizational and communication skills
• Willing to self-perform work when needed
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred but not required
• Valid California driver’s license with clean record
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work nights/weekends

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage construction activity across subcontractors, ensuring drawings and scope are understood
• Communicate scheduling and coordinate across trades to maintain productive workflow
• Manage the schedule to meet client completion dates, publish weekly look-aheads
• Ensure compliance with contract drawings and OSHPD/HCAI requirements
• Build trust-based relationships with inspectors and city authorities
• Oversee on-site safety program with weekly meetings and daily checklists
• Maintain site documentation (daily reports, RFIs, safety minutes, MS Project schedules)
• Supervise project completion and close-out, including punch lists
• Maintain professional demeanor at all times
