Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide direct, age-appropriate care under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practitioner in the Orthopaedic Trauma/Joint Restoration unit. The role involves patient monitoring, safety, and collaboration with the care team.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, and preferred CNAs with AHA BLS HCP certification.

Qualifications

Certification/Completion of one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant Medical Assistant Emergency Medical Technician Military Corpsmen/Medic Nursing Aide Training Program Experience within a healthcare environment OR Completion of foundations/ clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
Required Education: High School Degree or equivalent
Preferred Education: Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure/Certification and AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent

Responsibilities

Provide direct, age-specific care to patients under the RN or licensed practitioner direction.
Monitor patients’ conditions and provide updates to the health care team.
Assist with feeding, hydration, and nutrition; maintain safety and comfort.
Assist with ambulation and patient mobility.
Follow policy and procedure to ensure a safe, clean environment.
Observe and report changes in patient status to the health care team.
