Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Orthopedic Surgery unit at night. You will provide direct, age-appropriate care under the RN or LIP, monitor patient conditions, and assist with hygiene, mobility, and comfort to support recovery after orthopedic procedures.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED; CNA certification is preferred. BLS HCP certification or equivalent is required; prior healthcare experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of patient data collection and documentation (vital signs, intake/output)
• Ability to assist with activities of daily living and mobility
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate care and wear PPE as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and direct patient care to assigned patients under RN supervision
• Monitor patients’ conditions and report changes to the health care team
• Obtain and record patient information including vitals, intake/output, height/weight
• Assist with feeding, hygiene, mobility and comfort as needed
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized clinical area and participate in safety initiatives
