Job description

Responsibilities

A Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in healthcare settings, providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure the smooth operation of medical offices, clinics, and hospitals. Their responsibilities include:

  • Providing basic patient care and treatment assistance.
  • Assisting with obtaining vital signs, documenting chief complaints, obtaining patient history, and supporting physicians, residents, and licensed nursing personnel.
  • Alerting physicians of problems, concerns, or abnormalities.
  • Performing casting, splinting, traction application, and soft good applications as an Orthopedic Technician.
  • Coordinating ongoing orthopedic needs with providers, residents, nurse practitioners, and nurses.
  • Assisting with wound care.
  • Maintaining hospital standards for specimen labeling and collecting laboratory specimens per protocol.
  • Assisting providers during examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Retrieving necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Performing follow-up actions as directed.
  • Documenting clinically relevant findings in patient records following protocols.
  • Conducting front desk duties such as check-in, registration, and scheduling.
  • Completing full patient registration in IDX for new patients.
  • Ensuring patient information is current and accurate during follow-ups.
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits.
