Job summary

Addison Group seeks experienced Surgical Orthopedic Coders for contract-to-hire opportunities in Virginia. The role focuses on assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for orthopedic surgeries and related services, with emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Onsite in VA with potential remote candidates considered; training includes EPIC, with performance goals and a 95% accuracy target. There are 2 openings and a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience, orthopedic surgery preferred.
• CPC or CCS-P certification is required.
• Strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM guidelines for ortho procedures.
• EPIC experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to explain and support coding decisions confidently.
• Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative environment with process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Review and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for orthopedic services.
• Code joint replacements and spine, hip, shoulder, foot and ankle surgeries.
• Review docs for sports medicine, imaging, therapies, telemedicine, diagnostics.
• Code recurring visits, follow-ups and procedures.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
• Maintain coding accuracy at 95% or higher.
• Collaborate with team and resolve coding questions.
• Support workflow improvements and evolving coding processes.
