Job summary

Center for Advanced Orthopedics in Lenexa is seeking an experienced Pre-Op/PACU RN for a PRN role to provide direct nursing care to orthopedic surgical patients before and after procedures.

You will ensure safe pre-operative preparation, monitor anesthesia recovery, and support discharge planning with education for patients and families. Kansas RN licensure, BLS/ACLS, and 2+ years of OR/ PACU experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years RN experience; PACU, pre-op, or med-surg/ortho experience preferred.
• Current Kansas RN license (or compact license)
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursing
• BLS and ACLS required

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative: complete pre-operative patient assessment, health history review, and vital signs.
• Post-Anesthesia/PACU: monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and manage pain/nausea per protocol.
• Coordinate discharge planning, including durable medical equipment and mobility aids.
• Educate patients and families on discharge instructions, weight-bearing status, wound care, and home mobility precautions.
