Team members will play a key role in shaping the culture, delivering exceptional service, and helping us provide outstanding care and support to our patients and community.Why Join Us?Be part of a brand-new, state-of-the-art facilityCollaborate with an experienced and supportive teamHelp establish processes and best practices from day oneOpportunities for professional growth and career advancementCompetitive compensation and benefitsWe are seeking individuals who:Demonstrate professionalism and integrityThrive in a collaborative environmentAre committed to exceptional patient and customer experiencesBring enthusiasm, adaptability, and a positive attitudeWe are seeking an experienced Pre-Op/PACU RN PRN to provide direct nursing care to orthopedic surgical patients before and after their procedures, ensuring safe, efficient preparation for surgery and appropriate post-anesthesia recovery prior to discharge.ResponsibilitiesPre-OperativeComplete pre-operative patient assessment, health history review, and vital signsVerify surgical consent, H&P, labs, and orders are completeInitiate IV access and administer pre-op medications per ordersEducate patients/families on procedure expectations and post-op careConfirm surgical site marking and correct-patient/procedure verificationCoordinate timely patient flow to ORPost-Anesthesia/PACUMonitor patients recovering from anesthesia (vital signs, airway, pain, level of consciousness)Manage post-operative pain control and nausea/vomiting per protocolAssess for surgical complications (bleeding, neurovascular status for ortho patients, e.g., checking extremity circulation/sensation/motion post-joint or extremity surgery)Apply/monitor orthopedic-specific post-op devices (slings, braces, ice/cryotherapy units, CPM machines)Educate patients and caregivers on discharge instructions, weight-bearing status, wound care, and home mobility precautionsDetermine readiness for discharge using standardized scoring (e.g., Aldrete score)Coordinate discharge planning, including durable medical equipment and mobility aidsExperience/Education/Licensing.ExperienceMinimum 2 years RN experience; PACU, pre-op, or med-surg/ortho experience preferredLicensing/EducationCurrent Kansas RN license (or compact license)Associate's or bachelor's degree in nursingBLS and ACLS requiredPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand/walk for extended periods, assist with patient transfers and ambulation, lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
