Role Overview:

The Physical Therapist provides medically prescribed therapy to relieve pain, restore function, and prevent disability caused by disease, injury, or loss.

Key Responsibilities:

Conducts initial evaluations, develops personalized therapy programs involving exercises, manual therapy, heat, water, and electrical treatments. Guides patients in active/passive exercises, gait training, and use of assistive devices. Uses diagnostic tests for muscles, nerves, and joints, and records patient progress. May supervise assistants, aides, and volunteers, and participate in training students and staff in therapy techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

Requires a high school diploma; a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) after 2015 is mandatory. Experience preferred but not required. Certifications include licensure as a Physical Therapist, Basic Life Support (BLS), and optionally pelvic health certification. Must obtain licensure and certifications within 90 days of start.
