Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Patient Care Associate (Trainee) in Orthopedic Surgery. This on-site role supports licensed clinicians by handling administrative tasks and basic clinical duties in a fast-paced hospital setting.

You will assist with patient intake, vitals, room preparation, and medical records, while gaining hands-on experience under supervision. The position is full-time, on campus, and requires Basic Life Support within one month of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Some college or medical assistant training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical and administrative support, including answering phones and scheduling.
• Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations and sterilizes equipment.
• Interviews patients to obtain medical information and schedule activities.
• Interacts with patients, explaining procedures, medications, and instructions.
• Collects blood or specimens and prepares them for testing; may measure vital signs.
