Washington University in St. Louis Ophthalmology seeks a Patient Care Associate I to support clinical and clerical duties at the Medical Campus. You will assist with preparing exam rooms, collect vital signs, interview patients, schedule appointments and maintain medical records.

The role includes helping with patient flow, basic phlebotomy under supervision, and coordinating with physicians and nurses to ensure smooth visits. A high school diploma and BLS certification required within one month.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
• Medical assistant school training or some college is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides clerical and administrative support, including answering phones and scheduling.
• Prepares treatment rooms and sterilizes equipment.
• Interviews patients to obtain medical information or schedule activities; maintains medical records.
• Interacts with patients to explain procedures, medications, and instructions.
• Collects blood and other specimens; may perform routine lab tests and vital signs.
• Assists in preparing patients for examinations and supporting clinicians.
