Job summary

UMass Memorial Health seeks a Medical Assistant Ortho Tech for the Hand & Upper Extremity Clinic. This 40-hour, day-shift role is non-exempt and offers a competitive starting range with room for experience-based advancement.

Responsibilities include assisting with routine procedures, cast work, ortho bracing, patient transport, and clerical tasks. Required MA credential and BLS/HS certification; a strong focus on patient care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Medical Assistant credential from MA DOH-approved programs (ARMA, NHA, etc.).
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification; must be obtained within 3 months if not on hire.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and record vital signs.
• Assist in routine clinical procedures and cast work.
• Apply/adjust orthopedic braces; instruct on gait training.
• Assist with procedures and aseptic technique; support surgical setups.
• Communicate observations to licensed clinicians; prepare rooms and equipment.
