Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support clinic operations under licensed clinicians. The role includes casting, brace fitting and various clerical duties to manage patient flow and documentation.

Responsibilities cover room setup, patient transport, specimen handling, and collaboration with the care team to ensure quality patient care. A high school diploma, MA credential, and BLS/HS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to examination rooms and records vital signs.
• Performs cast work for arms, hands, legs and braces; instructs patients in cast care.
• Assists with procedures such as wound care, dressings and suture removals; supports physician/APP.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Medical Assistant credential (MA DH approved)

Current BLS/Heart Saver certification (AHA)
