Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for our Orthopedics Clinic. The role involves direct patient care, vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and routine clerical duties in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Required are a High School Diploma and MA credential per MA Dept. of Health, plus BLS. The position offers a day shift, 40 hours per week, with potential signing bonus eligibility discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification; if not available on hire, must be obtained within 3 months.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by MA Department of Health; must be obtained within 1 year from hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy and Point of Care tests.
• Assist with non-intravenous injections as directed.
• Assist with routine physical examinations or procedures.
• Review laboratory results and communicate with licensed clinicians as appropriate.
• Prepare, maintain and clean patient rooms and equipment.
• Process prescriptions and refills as directed per procedure.
• Collaborate with insurers for coverage, pre-authorizations as needed.
• Collect co-payments from patients and maintain records.
