Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Medical Assistant I to provide clinical care and clerical support in a clinic setting. The role involves applying/removing casts, assisting with procedures, and coordinating patient flow.

The MA I will collect vital signs, document health status, and support physicians and APPs while maintaining room readiness and equipment. Certification and ongoing training are required as listed in the qualifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant credential approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health.
• Current BLS or Heart Saver certification; if not available on hire, must be obtained within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to examination rooms and record vital signs.
• Assist in performing routine clinical procedures.
• Perform cast work and braces applications; instruct patients in care.
• Assist with procedures and maintain room readiness and sterilization.
• Handle patient admissions, transfers, and discharge procedures.

Education
