Job summary

The CORE Institute in Sun City West, AZ is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic care team. The role includes rooming patients, collecting vitals, EMR data entry, and coordinating with providers to support efficient clinic flow.

Candidate must have CMA certification, current MA credentials, and experience with office procedures, EMR, and insurance workflows. BLS and state requirements must be met; a high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in orthopedics, spine surgery, or pain management preferred.
• Graduated from a formal training program within the last 12-18 months and have the CMA certificate, or be grandfathered under state regulation.
• Must pass the MA competency exam within the first six months of employment.
• Active Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA) with proof of current membership as applicable.
• Experience with office medical procedures, insurance knowledge, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software.
• Certification or additional training must meet meaningful use requirements.
• BLS certification required.
• High school diploma/GED and graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between patient and provider during care.
• Collect and share pertinent information with the provider.
• Prepare patient for visits: rooming, vitals, intake paperwork, radiology review, prep for procedures, data entry into EMR.
• Support company initiatives such as PROs and Quality Payment Programs.
• Maintain exam room standards; restock and clean as needed.
• Manage biohazard/sharps containers and replace as needed.
• Assist with prescribing and completing medical forms (work release, FMLA).
• Respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in EMR.
• Prepare electronic patient charts before visits and verify testing results in EMR.
• Ensure patient education as directed by provider and maintain HIPAA-compliant environment.
• Handle EMR desktops for assigned providers and coordinate clinic flow.
• Be PTO Buddy per clinic plan and promote a positive patient experience.
