Job summary

Orthopedic Assosicates in Flower Mound, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in delivering high-quality musculoskeletal care. You will prepare patients, assist with examinations and procedures, document in EMR, and help coordinate appointments to ensure a smooth patient flow.

The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and knowledge of orthopedic terminology; CPR certification is required, with preference for prior orthopedic experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Current CPR certification (CPR, BLS).
• Two years orthopedic experience preferred.
• Three years medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for visit by directing to examination or X-ray room and assisting as needed.
• Interviews patients and records medical histories; may order x-rays.
• Assists healthcare providers during examinations.
• Performs dressing changes, vital signs, blood draws, and casts/splints as directed.
• Prepares and orders medication prescriptions and orders for x-rays, rehab, and DME.
• Documents in EMR and maintains patient health history; scans results and forms.
• Schedules appointments, tests, procedures, and surgeries.
• Ensures follow-up appointments after tests or procedures.
