OrthoTexas Physicians & Surgeons in Carrollton, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinical staff in delivering exceptional musculoskeletal care in an orthopedic setting. The MA will prepare patients, assist with casts and bracing, manage EMR documentation, coordinate appointments, and provide pre- and post-visit education to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Current CPR certification (CPR, BLS)
• Two years orthopedic experience preferred
• Three years medical office experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for visit by directing to examination or X-ray room and assisting with positioning.
• Interviews patient and records medical histories; may order x-rays per protocol.
• Assists health care providers during examinations as directed.
• Performs dressing changes, takes vitals, and handles casts/splints as needed.
• Prepares and orders medications, x-ray, rehab, and DME as directed.
• Maintains EMR documentation and updates patient history within 24 hours of visit.
• Schedules appointments, tests, procedures, and surgeries per protocol.
• Ensures follow-up appointments for test results and post-operative care are set.
• Responds to patient calls and documents communications in EMR.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and maintains exam rooms daily.
