Job summary

OrthoAtlanta is hiring an Orthopedic Medical Assistant to join our Austell, GA clinic. This on-site, full-time hourly role supports physicians with patient care, EMR documentation, and coordination of tests and surgeries.

You'll guide patients, gather registration details, schedule labs, manage surgical orders, and handle callbacks and referrals in a collaborative, growth-focused team environment with hands-on orthopedic experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited CNA/CMA/Ortho tech program (or equivalent).
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred.
• Experience with Epic EMR and patient data handling.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure comfort and privacy.
• Review registration details, collect forms, and complete EMR intake.
• Prepare surgical orders, schedule labs, obtain results, and manage clearances.
• Handle patient callbacks, prescriptions, and referrals; monitor physician queues.
• Demonstrate proper fitting of durable medical equipment (DME) when needed.

What You’ll Do

As an Orthopedic Medical Assistant at OrthoAtlanta, you’ll:

• Guiding Patients : Escort patients to exam rooms, assist with dressing/undressing, and ensure comfort and privacy
• Gathering Information : Accurately review patient registration details, collect necessary forms, and complete EMR intake documentation
• Coordinating Care : Prepare surgical orders, schedule lab tests and diagnostic procedures, obtain test results, and manage medical clearances for surgeries
• Communication and Follow-Up : Manage patient callbacks regarding messages, prescriptions, and referrals; monitor and respond to physician queues
• DME Support : Demonstrate proper fitting and usage of durable medical equipment (DME) like braces and soft goods when needed
• Are highly organized and detailed, ensuring every patient interaction is smooth and thorough
• Stay calm and efficient in a busy, high-energy clinic setting
• Communicate with professionalism, empathy, and clarity

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Ortho Tech program (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records systems (Epic preferred)
• Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism and patient confidentiality
