Job summary

OrthoAtlanta in Covington, GA, is seeking an Orthopedic Medical Assistant for an on-site, full-time hourly role. You will escort patients, review registrations, and coordinate care including lab tests and surgical clearances, while maintaining accurate EMR documentation.

You’ll support physicians in a fast-paced clinic, manage patient communications and referrals, and assist with DME fitting. A CNA/MA/Ortho Tech background plus EMR experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited CNA/MA/Ortho Tech program (or equivalent).
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred.
• Experience with electronic medical records systems (Epic preferred).
• Positive attitude, strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, assist with dressing/undressing, and ensure comfort and privacy.
• Review patient registration details, collect forms, and complete EMR intake documentation.
• Prepare surgical orders, schedule lab tests and diagnostic procedures, obtain test results, and manage surgical clearances.
• Manage patient callbacks, prescriptions, referrals, and respond to physician queues.
• Demonstrate proper fitting and usage of durable medical equipment (DME) like braces.
• Maintain calm, organized, and professional interactions in a busy clinic.

What You’ll Do

As an Orthopedic Medical Assistant at OrthoAtlanta, you’ll:

• Guiding Patients : Escort patients to exam rooms, assist with dressing/undressing, and ensure comfort and privacy
• Gathering Information : Accurately review patient registration details, collect necessary forms, and complete EMR intake documentation
• Coordinating Care : Prepare surgical orders, schedule lab tests and diagnostic procedures, obtain test results, and manage medical clearances for surgeries
• Communication and Follow-Up : Manage patient callbacks regarding messages, prescriptions, and referrals; monitor and respond to physician queues
• DME Support : Demonstrate proper fitting and usage of durable medical equipment (DME) like braces and soft goods when needed
• Are highly organized and detailed, ensuring every patient interaction is smooth and thorough
• Stay calm and efficient in a busy, high-energy clinic setting
• Communicate with professionalism, empathy, and clarity

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Ortho Tech program (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred
