Job summary

OrthoAtlanta is hiring an Orthopedic Medical Assistant for our Johns Creek and Lawrenceville clinics. This full-time, on-site role supports busy orthopedic teams with patient intake, care coordination, and hands-on clinical assistance.

You will gather information, schedule tests and surgeries, and ensure smooth patient flows in a fast-paced environment. A CMA/CNA or Ortho Tech program graduate with EMR experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of CNA, CMA, or Ortho Tech program (or equivalent) is preferred.
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred; familiarity with EMR systems (Epic preferred).

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure comfort and privacy.
• Review patient registration and complete EMR intake documentation.
• Prepare surgical orders, schedule labs and diagnostic procedures, and obtain test results.
• Manage patient callbacks, messages, prescriptions, and referrals; monitor physician queues.
• Demonstrate proper fitting of durable medical equipment (DME) as needed.

What You'll Do

As an Orthopedic Medical Assistant at OrthoAtlanta, you’ll:

• Guiding Patients: Escort patients to exam rooms, assist with dressing/undressing, and ensure comfort and privacy
• Gathering Information: Accurately review patient registration details, collect necessary forms, and complete EMR intake documentation
• Coordinating Care: Prepare surgical orders, schedule lab tests and diagnostic procedures, obtain test results, and manage medical clearances for surgeries
• Communication and Follow-Up: Manage patient callbacks regarding messages, prescriptions, and referrals; monitor and respond to physician queues
• DME Support: Demonstrate proper fitting and usage of durable medical equipment (DME) like braces and soft goods when needed

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, or Certified Ortho Tech program (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ year of medical office experience preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records systems (Epic preferred)
• Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong sense of professionalism and patient confidentiality
