Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a qualified Medical Assistant to join the Orthopedic Services team. This full-time role (40 hours/week) offers a sign-on bonus for eligible candidates and requires completion of an accredited MA program with CMA/RMA certification options.

Responsibilities include patient intake, vitals, rooming, basic lab work, medication administration, and coordination with providers.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine and complex technical skills within the Medical Assistant scope of practice after demonstrated competency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop rapport with patients, teammates and physicians.
• Proficient computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and follows policies and procedures.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vital signs, history, medication reconciliation, screenings.
• Assists provider with procedures and performs lab duties, including venipuncture and POCT.
• Administers medications and vaccines following rights of medication administration.
• Maintains a clean, stocked work environment and supports onboarding of teammates.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program

Structured military training (DD214) in lieu of formal MA program
