Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I to support the care team by performing essential clinical and administrative tasks while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. The role emphasizes professionalism and compassionate interactions with patients.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, assisting with exams, collecting specimens, administering meds and vaccines, and coordinating referrals and scheduling under supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214/EMT in lieu of MA program.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Follow MA scope of practice and clinic policies.
• Room patients, obtain vitals, review medications, and conduct screenings.
• Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments.
• Collect specimens, perform venipuncture, and run lab testing as appropriate.
• Administer medications and vaccines safely.
• Support patient care through refills, scheduling, and insurance authorizations.
• Cross-train to support clinic and specialty needs.
• Communicate effectively with patients and care team.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and equipment.
• Provide age-appropriate care across the lifespan.
