Job summary

UCSF Health's Orthopaedic Institute in San Francisco seeks a Practice Manager to lead administrative, clerical and clinical staff within the Department of Orthopedics. You will liaison with admitting, radiology, billing, and other Health System departments to oversee clinic operations and institute activities.

The role requires independent decision-making, initiative, diplomacy, and strong customer service to support faculty, staff, and patients in a complex healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising administrative/clerical, support and clinical staff.
• Ability to work independently with initiative and diplomacy.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and health-system privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily clinic operations and staffing across multiple locations.
• Coordinate scheduling and workflows with providers and administrative teams.
• Ensure regulatory quality and HR processes are compliant.
• Collaborate with Call Center and Radiology for patient access and flow.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and incident reporting.
• Oversee performance reviews and onboarding of staff.
• Coordinate recruitment and staffing within budget.
• Interface with admitting/registration, radiology, and billing departments.
• Support patient relations and provider relations.
