Job summary

Southlake Orthopaedics is seeking a full-time Orthopaedic Technician to work in our busy clinics in Hoover and Grandview. In this role, you will support patients through various examinations and treatments while ensuring proper documentation and assistance to physicians.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and preferably some experience in an orthopaedic setting. Competitive benefits including health insurance and a 401(k) plan after one year are offered.

Job description

Job Summary

Southlake Orthopaedics has an opening for a full-time Orthopaedic Technician to work at our busy and very fast paced orthopaedic clinics in Hoover and Grandview. As a Southlake Orthopaedics Orthopaedic Technician, you will provide assistance with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider.

Responsibilities
  • Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure room, assist patients with changing to exam gowns, and transfer to exam table if needed
  • Assess patient's general condition and collect patient history
  • Document health history, activities, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record
  • Provide basic patient care as ordered by physician and assist physician with various procedures
  • Provide patient education materials, communicates physician advice/instructions to patient
  • Cast and splint application and removal
  • Fit patients with braces, boots, other DME as ordered by physician
  • Wound dressing changes
  • Prepare injections
  • Suture and staple removal
  • Sterile tray set-ups
  • Obtain lab/x-ray reports
  • Schedule surgery, hospital procedures and pre- and post‑op appointments
  • Schedule MRI, CT scans, labs, etc.
  • Schedule referrals to other physicians
  • Perform ECG studies
  • Clean and stock exam rooms
  • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in an orthopaedic clinic preferred
  • LPN, CMA, CST or equivalent experience preferred
  • Orthopaedic Technician or EMT license preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multi task
