Job summary

Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry is seeking an experienced chairside Orthodontic Dental Assistant. You will support the orthodontist during procedures, take radiographs and impressions, and help patients understand costs and financing.

You’ll ensure a smooth schedule, confirm appointments, and coordinate with the front desk to keep the day running efficiently. The ideal candidate has 1–3+ years of chairside experience, radiography credentials, CPR/BLS, and familiarity with Denticon.

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of chairside dental assisting experience.
• Experience presenting treatment plans and discussing financial arrangements.
• Experience scheduling treatment chairside and managing a provider schedule.
• Knowledge of dental insurance and procedure terminology.
• Radiography certification / state credentials (NC).
• Current CPR/BLS, or willing to obtain it.
• Experience with Denticon practice management software is a plus.
• Able to perform the physical requirements of chairside work.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during procedures and ensure outstanding patient experience.
• Take radiographs and impressions, and chart accurately.
• Set up and breakdown operatories on schedule.
• Sterilize instruments following OSHA standards.
• Present treatment plans and explain recommendations in plain language.
• Discuss fees, insurance estimates, and payment options with patients.
• Schedule next visits while patients are in the chair.
• Confirm upcoming appointments by phone and text.
• Fill openings and cancellations; follow up on unscheduled treatment.
• Coordinate handoff with front desk to avoid gaps.
• Support teammates as needed.
